This summer I have had my first experience working for CINF. Even thought it is not over yet, I believe that after one month I can define the current teaching situation, expectations and results about my experience so far.

In general, my doubts and expectations were all about the country and its socio-political situation, more than teaching itself. As a matter of fact, it was very hard for me to imagine living in such a complicated and fascinating place of the world. I also had very few expectations about the students: as a matter of fact, I thought that very few people would have been sincerely interested in learning Italian language – especially in summer.

However, the real approach was very different. The country has clearly been living a tragic situation and war left visible scars; however, it was very easy to realize that the Artsakhi people are what make this country a great place. Their attitude and natural enthusiasm are just some of the many special features that make them amazing.

Teaching for CINF has been, so far, a great experience. The organization has an efficient structure and I really appreciate the synergy between them and the local people, associations and institutions. I was very pleased by how welcoming the local university, Mesrob Mashtots University, was – also showing willingness to improve in the future.

My students are definitively what surprised me the most. Not only are they very interested in learning Italian, but they are also passionate, diligent, and hard-working. I never thought I would find such a passionate team, and that makes me have very good hopes for a future of increasing positive relations between Artsakh and Italy.

I am deeply happy with this experience so far. Working in such a stimulating environment, with young, energic and competent fellow colleagues from America and Artsakh, is a unique opportunity for learning, meeting new people and reciprocally exchange with each other in a positive and constructive way.
